Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church has opened its doors to all God's children for over 150 years. Our church is committed to spreading the love of Jesus Christ through worship, service, and fellowship. Our congregation is made up of diverse and welcoming members who strive to create a warm and inclusive environment for all. We offer a variety of programs and services for people of all ages and backgrounds, including Bible study, youth groups, and community outreach initiatives.

A Message From Reverend Dr. Timothy R. Simmons

Greetings in the matchless name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 


I am profoundly and eternally grateful to the only wise God who can keep us from falling and present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. I thank my God for who He is. As I peruse our church's history, I am grateful for the eight Pastors (Trail Blazers) who worked tiredly to make this church "Holy Ghost Headquarters". 


As my family and I have celebrated over a decade of service as the Under Sheppard of this church, I feel the need to humbly thank my God for equipping me with the necessary tools for leadership. I also want to express my gratitude to my fellow laborers in the vineyard for their prayers, love, and support; I bid you God's speed. 


We have come a mighty long way; however, God has greater things for us if we hold on to His unchanging hands. So as we enjoy yet another week in this world, it is our sincere hope that God will grant us a spirit-filled week in which His name is glorified and the people of God are edified as we continue in the vineyard.

Our History

In 1872, the Late Reverend Arron Waring and a small band of devoted Christian believers founded the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Under his humble and sincere guidance, the membership increased and the church prospered spiritually. Before too long, our church’s membership had outgrown the church building’s capacity, and the first set of renovations was completed a few years later.


Through the years, our Church has undergone large-scale evolution. Our building has been renovated and rebuilt several times, including a complete reconstruction in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo. Our Church’s Constitution and bylaws were written in 2012 as one of the first acts of our current Pastor, Reverend Timothy R. Simmons, and the Mother’s Board was founded a few months later.


Over one hundred and fifty years after being created, while Oak Grove Baptist Church has evolved from humble beginnings into a vibrant house of worship, our message has never wavered. We are a church devoted to promoting God’s love through education, preaching, and reaching souls with the empowerment of God’s people who are dedicated to kingdom building- one life at a time. We have always welcomed all our brothers and sisters into our church so that we may pray, spread the word of Christ, and expand our loving community of God’s children.
